I am Joey Blaze
Student-Athlete at Purdue University
Hello, I am Joey blaze a sophomore Student-Athlete at Purdue University studying selling and sales management. I wrestle at 157 pounds; and was a national qualifier in my freshman season. Wrestling has been a major part of my life for the past 12 years. Starting at the age of 7, I’ve developed physical endurance, mental toughness, discipline, and a drive to improve continually. As a member of the Purdue Wrestling Team, I bring this same commitment to my academics and personal growth. I believe that the skills I’ve honed on the mat, such as perseverance, strategic thinking, and teamwork, will be invaluable in my career.

Skills
Through setting up and coaching wrestling camps with my brother, I have developed a wide range of valuable skills that extend beyond the wrestling mat. Organizing and running these camps has sharpened my leadership, problem-solving, and time-management abilities, as I was responsible for planning schedules, coordinating with campers, and ensuring smooth operations. Working closely with my brother also taught me the importance of teamwork and adaptability in a coaching environment. Additionally, helping kids improve their wrestling skills has greatly enhanced my communication abilities. I’ve learned to break down complex techniques into simple, easy-to-understand instructions and to adjust my communication style to meet the needs of different age groups and skill levels. This experience has made me a more patient and empathetic communicator, skills that will serve me well both in my professional and athletic careers.
